The Sheriff's Office says they received a report of the discarded gravestones on March 21st.

The gravestones date from the late 1800s and early 1900s and had been broken into many pieces.

Authorities are looking for any information as to who the grave stones belong to or where their graves may be located.

Anyone with information about the stones is asked to contact Sgt. Doug Oberbeck at (252)475-9355.

It would sure help in identification if the names on the headstones were posted. Also what state/ or country is this in?

The stones are from the Basnett Cemetery in Frisco, Dare County, North Carolina. There is a memorial for Robert B. Basnett on Find·A·Grave that has a photo of the broken stones that was taken by Dawn Taylor, who created the memorial.
