An 18-year-old man was arrested in Newport News on Tuesday after allegedly shooting at several other men.

Police say an officer heard approximately 15-20 gunshots while patrolling the area near the Blue Ridge apartment complex around 2:50 p.m.

Officers responded and found one man shooting at two other men near 48th Street and Marshall Avenue.

The men scattered and police heard more gunfire.

Four individuals were detained.

One of the four, 18-year-old Devonni Douglas, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

No injuries were reported, though a home in the 600 block of 49th Street and a vehicle in the 4700 block of Marshall Avenue were both struck by gunshots.
