Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Fire & Rescue teams responded to a barn fire in the 1400 block of Buckhorn Drive in rural Suffolk off Holland Road/Route 58 early Friday morning.
Emergency Communications received the call at 9:12 a.m., and units were on scene at 9:22 a.m.
Crews arrived and found that the pole barn, which still had animals inside, was fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly extinguished and was confined to just the barn, but officials say nine goats and one sheep perished in the fire.
The barn was also used as a tack shop for horse equipment, and the equipment and building were a total loss.
No firefighters have been injured.
