Chesapeake Police say all Western Branch area schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution on Thursday afternoon after a suspicious person was spotted in the area.

Police say a bus driver reported seeing a white male in his early 20s wearing desert camouflage and carrying a long gun near Bruin Drive and Radcliffe Lane.

Police canvassed the area for nearly 30 minutes but did not locate anyone.

The lock down has since been lifted.
