Norfolk, Va. - Sailors aboard the USS Bataan were the first to be issued the new Flame Resistant Variant (FRV) coverall on Wednesday.

After reviewing the findings of the Organizational Clothing Working Group in August, U.S. Fleet Forces and U.S. Pacific Fleet announced the decision to issue all shipboard Sailors flame resistant coveralls as a safety precaution.

Earlier testing had revealed the service's uniforms were highly flammable.
