Isle of Wight County, Va. – Conservation police tell NewsChannel 3 61-year-old Kevin Stanley Beatty of Norfolk was found dead in Isle of Wight County on Friday night.

They say his friend found him suspended above the ground from a rope 30 feet in the air at around 7 p.m. on 12014 Dews Plantation Road.

Officials say he was accessing his trees tand when the ladder above him broke. They say his foot appeared to be caught up in the rope.

Officials say the victim was hunting in a tree and would often come on the land to hunt. They believe he may have been there about 2-4 hours before his friend discovered him.

The property owner says the man’s family called him to see if they’d heard from the victim.

The cause of death is unknown right now. They say he suffered head and hand injuries.

The victim has been taken to the Norfolk Medical Examiner’s officer to confirm the official cause of death.
