Catawba County, NC – A million dollar mansion once owned by former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was burned down on Thursday during a planned firefighter training.
According to Myfox8.com, the former driver was evicted from the home last year after he had financial troubles. He was banned from racing after failing a drug test in 2009.
The fire chief there says the new owners of the house do not want the home that is now valued at a little over $300,000.
Burning the home down allowed it to be taken off of the tax books, and it also provided training for firefighters in the area.
