James City County, Va. – A woman was abducted Friday when returning home from work and police have charged her ex-boyfriend.
According to James City County Police, the 31-year-old woman was confronted by her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Wayne Snider, 27, in the parking lot of her home on Midlands Road.
Police say Snider followed the victim and pulled her into her apartment. For 40 minutes, police say Snider prevented the woman from leaving the apartment, putting duct tape over her mouth several times and choking her.
The woman was able to escape when he tried to pull her toward his pick-up truck in the parking lot. Police say she punched him and ran to a neighbor’s house for help and Snider took off in his truck.
Police say Snider had a bag with him filled with rope, belts, and sex toys.
The victim was treated and released from Williamsburg Sentara Hospital for her injuries.
An off-duty police officer spotted Snider’s vehicle Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m. in the Croaker Commuter Lot off of I-64.
Snider took off onto I-64 westbound, according to police, and was chased by officers until spike strips were deployed, deflating a tire.
Police say Snider had a self-inflicted stab wound to his abdomen and cuts to his arm. He was taken to the hospital where he needed surgery for his injuries. He remains hospitalized in custody without bond.
He’s charged with abduction, strangulation, breaking & entering with intent to commit assault, grand larceny, and assault & battery.
