Virginia Beach, Va. – A corn field caught fire Thursday afternoon in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach, officials say.
It happened in the 1500 block of Gum Ridge Road. One acre within a five acre field was burned – the corn field had already been harvested, according to Amy Valdez of the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
No injuries have been reported, and no structures have been threatened, officials say.
Crews will be on the scene for quite a while, to extinguish the spot fires throughout the area.
