Portsmouth, Va. - There's just something fascinating about a tall ship, especially one that's part of our military.
The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle has pulled into Portsmouth for candidate training.
And for NewsChannel 3's photojournalist Patrick Boquard, the ship's arrival has an even deeper meaning.
For six years, the ship was part of the family.
His father, who is a doctor at the Coast Guard Academy's clinic, was part of cruises that the tall ship took.
Patrick got to tag along on a trip to Nova Scotia.
Every year, the family would take their Christmas card photo with the Eagle.
Now 11 years after his family moved away, Patrick is back on the Cutter showing all of us just how special it is.
Now you have a chance to see inside the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle.
It will be docked on High Street tonight through Sunday and it's free to tour.
