Oceana squadron leader relieved of command over ‘inappropriate’ relationship

Cmdr. Edward C. White was relieved of his duties as commanding officer of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Six (VFA-106) based at Naval Air Station Oceana on Monday.

Commander of the Naval Air Force Atlantic, Rear Admiral Michael Shoemaker relieved White of his duties after an ongoing command investigation into White's alleged inappropriate relationship with a female Department of the Navy civilian employee.

White has been replaced by Cmdr. Brent Blackmer, who was originally scheduled to take command of the squadron on September 26th as a regularly scheduled change of command.

White has commanded VFA-106  since June 2012. He has been temporarily assigned to Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic pending final results of the investigation.
