Virginia Beach, Va. – A jewelry store in Virginia Beach was broken into Friday by thieves who went through the roof to get inside.

It happened sometime after 11 p.m. at Baker’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts on Laskin Rd.

Once they were inside,  they set off the store's alarm and police were there within five minutes.

Unfortunately, the jewelry thieves were even faster.  They were able to grab items from three display cases in just minutes before taking off.

The store's owners believe it was two men who were in the store earlier that day and were acting suspiciously.

The thieves weren't able to make off with their high-end jewelry, though, because most of their merchandise is locked up in a safe at night.

As for how much they did steal, the store is still working to figure that out.
