Norfolk, Va. - Brendon Maurmeier said someone kicked in the front door of his Five Points Norfolk home and then took off with his ride.

"Right then and there I felt hopeless and helpless," Maurmeier said. "Because I wanted to go out and I as going to do something that day. It wasn't like I was just going to sit around the house all day."

Sunday at around noon, Maurmeier was walking back home after pet sitting for a neighbor overnight.

"When I walk down I notice my car isn't around," Maurmeier said.

While he was worried, he was still holding out hope.

"My key wasn't there. I was like you know maybe somebody could have used it or grabbed it but that never came up you know," Maurmeier said.

Then Maurmeier got to his front door. It had been kicked in, and that's when he realized his car wasn't being "borrowed."

"I know the economy is bad and it's probably someone who's a little out of luck or whatever, who knows, I just want my car back," Maurmeier said.

He looked to see if anything else had been taken. Whoever broke it, messed around with his guitars, but that's it.

Maurmeier has insurance, but the deductible for everything is going to run him at least a grand. He's hoping his car will be returned.

"The door's kicked in. Oh wow, I'll buy a new door or something but without my car," Maurmeier said. "I can't move, you know it's your livelihood."
