Marine praised after helping boy finish 5K race

A Marine running in the Jeff Drench Memorial 5K race in Charlevoix, Michigan last Saturday is being praised on social media after stopping during the race to help motivate a young boy to the finish line.

Cpl. Myles Kerr, 19, ended up with the slowest time in his age group, but crossed the line with 9-year-old Brandon Fuchs, who lost his party during the race.

Seals Of Honor, a Facebook group commemorating the life of Navy Lt. Michael P. Murphy who died fighting in Afghanistan, posted a photo of Kerr and Fuchs running together.

running1Cpl. Kerr responded to tweets commemorating his act by saying, “I was just doing what any man would do, but thank you!”
