Franklin, Va. - Tremaine M. Porter, 26, has been arrested and charged with abduction and rape of a juvenile in Franklin. Police say they found out about the victim while they were investigating a burglary and rape on Washington Street on Wednesday.
They say Porter took the juvenile victim to the back of an apartment complex where the alleged rape took place. Porter was arrested at a home on Harvest Drive in Suffolk.
Police are still investigating the incident on Washington Street and they believe Porter may also be involved in that crime.
Officers say they were notified of the residential burglary at 7:24 a.m. in the 500 block of Washington Street.
They say a suspect forced entry into the home through the back door and sexually assaulted a 48-year-old female resident. The woman was injured after being struck in the face police say.
Neighbor Travis Pope said he's surprised this happened in this area.
"For something like this to happen, it's just ridiculous. I've been here 23 years and this is nothing that happens on the regular out here," he says.
Police continue to investigate and updates will be provided as they become available.
