Newport News, Va - According to police, a Newport News Shipbuilding security officer found an unconscious man lying on the side of the road in the 2400 block of West Avenue around 4:30am Saturday.
The security officer called police immediately.
Medics responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
Police say foul play does not seem to be a factor at this point.
The man's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's office to determine a cause of death.
Police say the man was 49 year-old and from Newport News.
