Portsmouth Police say an estimated $5,000 worth of copper electrical cable was stolen from the General Dynamics/Earl Industries building in the 600 block of Chautauqua Avenue.

An employee discovered the 100 bundles of fifty-foot electrical cable missing from a fenced-in enclosure at the back of the building.

Employees identified an area of barbed wire fencing that had been cut on a previous date.

Property Crime Detectives are currently investigating the theft.

Due to the amount of spools missing, detectives believe several individuals were responsible for the theft.

Copper cables were also removed from the air conditioning unit.

Property Crime Detectives are asking for assistance from the public in identifying suspects, and the whereabouts of the stolen property.   Anyone with any information can call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOC-U-UP
