Virginia Beach, Va. - Beach based SEAL Team 6 pulled off a successful raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan shooting the al Qaeda leader dead, identifying him, and then burying the terrorist at sea.

That’s the general consensus of what happened.

But now there's a different version out there about how he died coming from his former bodyguard.

A former leader of the Egyptian Jihadi movement, who was once a personal guard to bin Laden says the terrorist leader wasn’t killed by SEAL Team 6, but instead, he took his own life.

The man behind the new claims, Abdul Fattah, says bin Laden was in a fire fight with the SEALs and was shot in the leg.

At that point, bin Laden detonated an explosive belt he was wearing in order to avoid being captured alive by U.S. Special Forces.

Now there are some pretty big holes in Fattah's version of what happened including the fact that he was nowhere near the compound when it all went down.

He also goes on to say the SEALs chopped up bin Laden’s body to destroy forensic evidence.
