Suffolk, Va. – One man was burned when a fire destroyed a camper trailer in the Whaleyville section of Suffolk on Thursday.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived at 5:27 p.m. to find the camper trailer behind a residence on Great Fork Road fully engulfed in flames.
A 57-year-old man sustained burns to his upper body while trying to extinguish the fire prior to arrival of firefighters and was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Engines 1, 2 and 8, Tankers 1 and 8, Medic 8, Battalion 1 and the Fire Marshal’s office responded to the scene and were assisted by the Whaleyville Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was brought under control at 5:35 p.m.
The camper trailer was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
