Elizabeth City, N.C. - For several months, numerous homes and cars were broken into in the Newbegun Landing Subdivision.

Three guns, money and electronics were taken. Some of the victims had their cars broken into more than once.

Friday, deputies arrested two teens in connection to the string of break-ins - Cory Carden, 18, and James Robertson Jr, 17.

Both live in the same subdivision where the break-ins occurred.

According to court documents, Carden broke into some of the cars by himself; other break-ins the teens did together.

The break-ins started in the end of January and continued into May.  Most took place on Small Dr.

In one case, court documents show that both teens are accused of breaking into a house overnight while someone was home, stealing car keys, and using them to steal a gun out of the car.

In another case, two bikes were stolen from inside a garage.

According to a search warrant, an investigator found one bike in Robertson's backyard and the other in a wooded area near the backyard.

It goes on to say that when the investigator went inside and spoke to Robertson, he confessed to some of the break-ins and told him they could find some of the stolen property at Carden's home.

Carden's house was searched Thursday. Only a few items were seized including a laptop, iPad cover and sunglasses.

Both teens were released on bond.  No one answered at Carden's home and Robertson's dad said they had no comment.
