Second gas station fire in Newport News within two days

Newport News, Va. - A gas station caught fire Wednesday morning in Newport News.

This is the second gas station fire in Newport News in two days.

It happened on 27th Street at the Citgo Convenience Store. Police discovered the fire while directing traffic around a crash at Buxton Avenue. That crash involved a power pole and electrical lines; a pick-up truck struck the pole. Damage was confined to an area immediately surrounding the panel box, officials say.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
