An Arizona dog had a free trip to Ireland just ahead of Saint Patrick’s Day.

But the trip wasn't at all planned, the dog's owner's say an airline flew the dog there by accident.

Most people have had bad experiences flying long delays, uncomfortable seats,  but I bet you've never ended up in the wrong country on your flight.

Hendrix's owner, Meredith grant, is having a hard time understanding how this is possible  to say the least.

Was Hendrix safe? Was he being fed?

The mix-up has been more than just a headache for Meredith.

Her father, Joe, has been trying to console her while Hendrix is being re-routed back from Ireland.

"I felt helplessness. I didn't know what to do for her or her mom. It was silence. It was just...what do you say, except hope he gets some Guinness and corned beef and cabbage."

At Sky Harbor Airport, Hendrix’s plane finally touches down, and he's unloaded.

United Airlines says they're now conducting a full review of the problem, so they can figure out how this mix-up happened.

United said they will offer Hendrix’s family a full refund, but that's not good enough for Meredith.

She wants the person responsible punished.

But for now, it's easy to see Hendrix is just glad to be home.

Hendrix had another Irish experience today as his family took him to a Phoenix Saint Patrick’s Day parade.
