Crews battle brush fire in Powells Point area of Currituck

Currituck County, NC—There is a brush fire in the Powells Point area of Currituck County on 130 Strawhouse Lane according to officials.

The North Carolina Forest Service is on the scene now.

The brush fire is contained to about 10 acres, and it started with grass but went into the woods.

Crews called a bulldozer out to the area to cut a line around it for containment.

Three homes were threatened by the flames near Pinewood Acres Drive near 158 but they are no longer in danger since the fire has been contained.
