Newport News, Va. – The Newport News Fire Department responded to a report of a brush fire Monday morning on I-64 Westbound, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
The fire was called in by a passerby. Fire units were dispatched at 10:18 a.m. and arrived at 10:21 a.m.
When Newport News Fire Department crews arrived, VDOT crews were already on scene assisting with traffic. Two lanes of traffic were shut down until the brush fire was out.
Newport News fire units cleared the incident at 10:48 a.m.
At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
All lanes are open at this time.
