Surry County, Va. - A dog is out of surgery after being shot in the snout.

Animal Control in Surry County says the dog was found near the Jamestown Ferry.

The group Dogs Deserve Better posted on their Facebook page that they found the dog and rushed it to the vet.

Animal Control tells NewsChannel 3 the dog is microchipped, but the chip is not registered, making it hard for animal control to find the dog’s owner.

NewsChannel 3's Reed Andrews is working on this story right now and we'll post any updates we receive.
