Portsmouth, Va. - A man stabs someone at a Portsmouth Walmart but before he gets away, customers step in to take action.

One witness actually captured video of three bystanders stopping the suspect from leaving the store.

In the video, you can see a group of men fighting with the suspect.

While some customers stood back and watched, bystanders wrestled the suspect to the ground, holding him down until officers arrived just before nine Monday night.

Several shoppers were relieved to hear that a group of customers came together to stop the suspect from getting away.

Investigators now believe the suspect sought out the victim in retaliation to a previous run-in with someone related to the victim.

Police will not tell NewsChannel 3 the name of the man who was stabbed or the man who attacked they say to protect the both of them.

Even though the suspect is still in the hospital, he's been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
