Body found in water near Petersons Yacht Basin in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – A body has been found in the water near Petersons Yacht Basin in Newport News.

Police say kayakers found he body next to a marshy area.

The Newport News Fire Department’s Marine Incident Response Team responded and recovered the body.

The victim is a black man appearing to be in his 40s or 50s, 5’8″ to 5’10″ tall with a slender build and a mustache. He was wearing a yellow Nike shirt and black pants with a gold belt. He was not wearing shoes.

There were no visible signs of foul play.
