Couple arrested after handgun found in baby stroller with child

Newport News, Va. – According to Newport News police, a handgun was found in the bottom storage compartment of a baby stroller with the baby still inside. 

Police say on September 4, 2012 a little before 11:00 p.m, they responded to the 21st Street and Wickham Avenue area in reference to a man having a gun. 

They say the man was with his girlfriend who was pushing a stroller where the gun was found.

Simon Terrell Quartlbaum, 21, of the 1100 block of 16th Street in Newport News was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by felon.

His girlfriend, Brittany Jamal Thomas, 22, of the 3300 block of Sunnyside Drive in Hampton, was issued a criminal summons for carrying a concealed weapon.
