In Virginia Beach a man who killed his friend in a DUI crash and then ran to Belize is getting a week to decide whether to hire a new attorney.

A Virginia Beach jury convicted him of driving drunk, and killing Jack Korte when he hit a tree.

The courts issued new arrest warrants when he failed to show up for a second trial on charges that he threatened a witness in the DUI case.

Crockett is now charged with both felony and misdemeanor counts of failing to appear in court.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on those charges this morning, but the judge granted him a week to talk with his attorney and to decide whether he wants to hire a new one.
