According to Norfolk police, a man drowned in East Ocean View Friday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Namanan Guhanathan from Richmond, Virginia.
Calls came in just after 2 p.m. about an individual floating just off of the beach line at East Ocean View and the Chesapeake Bay. Police responded to the 700 block of East Ocean View, Community Beach.
He was taken to the shoreline where people began to do CPR. NewsChannel 3 spoke with the man who tried to help the victim.
He was transported to DePaul Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating this as an undetermined death. There are no signs of foul play according to police.
