SWAT situation in Virginia Beach

Beach police say they went to check on a veteran who they thought may need mental help.

Many viewers called and posted on our Facebook page asking about the police cars and SWAT trucks at the scene on Florence Street and Silina Drive off Lynnhaven Road.

Police tell NewsChannel 3 the man's brother called and asked police to check on the man.

Officers called in the SWAT team as a precaution.

They eventually got the man out safely and the scene was cleared.
