A local man now behind bars is charged with felony child neglect.
Police say his girlfriend’s 2-year-old child died in his care.
Police say Jerrell Edwards put the child to sleep. They say when he went to check on the child, it was unresponsive.
Police say Edwards called 911, but the toddler later died at the hospital.
Edwards is in jail without bond.
