Meteorologist April Loveland's First Warning Forecast

An area of low pressure will form over the Carolinas late tonight. Rain will spread across the area tonight through Monday. We could see a few storms, especially in Eastern North Carolina. Monday will be an Action Day due to the threat of strong to severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has areas south of Duck, including Mainland Dare County under a Level 2 for severe weather. That means scattered severe storms are possible. The biggest threats are damaging wind gusts, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes. Virginia has the chance to see garden variety thunderstorms. Temperatures will be cooler with highs in the upper 50s to near 60. We'll dry out Monday night with lows in the 40s.

Tuesday will be milder with highs in the low 70s. Keeping a slight 30 percent chance for an afternoon storms. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid 60s under mostly sunny skies.

Another area of low pressure will move in by Thursday night and Friday bringing rain to the area. Temperatures will top out in the low 70s.
