Atlanta Dream point guard Renee Montgomery is opting out of the 2020 WNBA season to focus on social justice reform after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Montgomery tweeted her decision on Thursday.

"After much thought, I’ve decided to opt-out of the 2020 WNBA season. There’s work to be done off the court in so many areas in our community. Social justice reform isn’t going to happen overnight but I do feel that now is the time and Moments equal Momentum. Let's keep it going!"

Montgomery is the second WNBA player to opt-out of the 2020 season.

According to the Washington Post, Maya Moore with the Minnesota Lynx took time out for the second year in a row to focus on social reform.

On Friday, Montgomery and her foundation The Renee Montgomery Foundation hosted a Juneteenth block party and handed out meals in downtown Atlanta.
