RICHMOND, Va. - Whether he's doing a celebratory confetti angel after the game or registering a tackle during Sunday's Super Bowl LV on News 3, when you're watching Virginia Beach's Derrick Nnadi in action for the Kansas City Chiefs - be sure to take a peek at his shoes.
For several games this season, Nnadi has worn custom cleats designed by a shoe artist in Richmond. Adam Jemerison also designed the kicks Nnadi will wear vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.
Minutes before Jemerison shipped the shoes to Derrick this week, he chatted with News 3 Sports Director Adam Winkler and explained his custom work.
"Obviously, him being from The 757, I wanted to keep the water vibe, the ocean vibe without having palm trees or a sunset on there," Jemerison said. "My idea was: we did the glitter pair for him earlier this year - so that was super out there, and then we did the two anime pairs with the characters on them. Therefore, I wanted to go with something we hadn't done before. That's why I went with the something in the water vibe. I practiced something new, too - because I've never done the water ripples or anything like that. But I love the way they turned out."
Jemerison, who attended Radford University, works for Stadium Custom Kicks.
