VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - On Friday afternoon, G.A.M.E. Academy's 7-on-7 high school football league gets underway.

"There’s gonna be Friday night lights. We're gonna create the same atmosphere as a high school football game," G.A.M.E. Academy coach and founder Zohn Burden said. "We hope to have fans and a good turnout. The concession stand will be open. The biggest thing is we’ll ask everyone to wear a mask and practice social distancing and the stadium will be designed and set up that way with the sportsplex to make sure we’re following those regulations."

Fans and teams are required to have their temperature checked before entering the stadium. VB Sportsplex staff will be disinfecting the stadium, restrooms and auxiliary areas, and the stadium’s seating will be roped off for the practice of social distancing.

With the VHSL high school football season postponed, many athletes from the area have flocked to the league for a chance to compete on the gridiron.

"Kids can improve in the fall in order to even be better in the spring," Burden said. "We're trying to bridge that gap and make sure that they’re gonna get on teams and get out there and compete."

Each Friday, games will be played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and live streamed for college coaches. Games will last 25 minutes with a running clock.
