2020 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament canceled in effort to prevent spread of COVID-19

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The 68th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has officially been canceled for 2020.

The tournament is a showcase for the nation’s best college basketball seniors to display their skills in front of all 30 NBA teams scouts and front office executives.

"Due to the Declaration of National Emergency, Declaration of Emergency in the State of Virginia, Declaration of Local Emergency in Portsmouth, VA and in an effort to prevent the spread the Corona Virus (COVID-19) through social distancing, the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has been cancelled for 2020," PIT Vice Chairman Mike Morris confirmed to News 3.

The four-day tournament was scheduled to begin April 15th at Churchland High School.
