SUFFOLK, Va. - The Suffolk Economic Development Department will begin hosting a weekly in-person job fair at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 100 E. Constance Road.

The event will be every Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is free and open to the public. The first job fair is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5. The weekly fairs are expected to run through at least September.

'WOW', as the job fair is called, represents “Workforce Opportunity Wednesday”, as an easy way for the public to remember the day set aside to learn about new job opportunities with Suffolk–based businesses.

The goal of the free, socially-distanced, ongoing event will be to support members of the community who are looking to further their careers in Suffolk. It is also a means of community outreach for the businesses, as they will be talking about what they do and their impacts on the city and region.

CDC Safety guidelines will be followed and precautionary measures will be employed for the representatives of the businesses and job candidates. No more than five businesses will be present at each WOW event, and they will be considerably distanced from each other. Job seekers and members of the public will enjoy ample space between themselves and the business representatives, as well. Hand sanitizer and masks will be distributed at a dedicated entrance.

Economic Development has been maintaining a complete list of Suffolk–based businesses who are actively seeking new talent; the list can be found under the tab “Resources for Workers/Employees” here.
