HENRICO COUNTY, Va. - When Felicia McKay arrived at Walmart on Nine Mile Road in Henrico on Saturday, she planned to pay off her layaway charges and take home gifts she bought for her 10 grandchildren.

Instead, she got a surprise when she spoke with a Walmart worker.

"[He said] a man came into the store and told [workers] he wanted to remain anonymous. And he chose layaways at random and he paid off my layaway," she said. "He did not want recognition, but with everything that's going on in the world today, I feel like he does need some type of recognition."

Walmart workers told McKay the Secret Santa gave Walmart $50,000 to pay off strangers' layaway charges.

"It just lets us know that there are still good people in the world, no matter what's going on," McKay said. "You never know what your act of kindness will do for another family. And once again, I just really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart."

McKay said it was important for everyone to think of others, not only around Christmas -- but every day.

"The Bible says what you do in secret, God will reward you openly," she said. "And I think that's where it comes from, you know, people call it paying it forward. I just say being a blessing."
