NORFOLK, Va. — We are right in the middle of the eating season.
From Thanksgiving pies to Christmas cookies, this time of the year is a food bonanza.
What better way to burn off those excess calories than a walk? And not just any walk, it's a great time to get your steps in while checking out the holiday lights.
Positively Hampton Roads
Light displays that will get you in the holiday spirit
I took advantage of the mild weather for a walk around downtown Norfolk, which is decked out for the holidays.
While there are events and decorations all over Norfolk, a lot of the action is centered on Town Point Park and Nauticus, the maritime museum.
There are plenty of Christmas lights and a large tree visible from waterside drive…but the centerpiece is Winterfest on the Wisconsin.
The battleship Wisconsin and the surrounding area are decorated with more than one million twinkling lights.
That’s pretty impressive!

There's live entertainment just about every night, including magic shows, a juggler and visits from Santa and the Grinch.
Winterfest on the Wisconsin continues through New Year's day.
If you need more inspiration for a seasonal walk, this Saturday, you can take a walk over to the Neon Arts District on the edge of downtown for a Holiday Market.
