PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth Pride kicked off Pride Month in Hampton Roads with a huge celebration for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.
Beginning with a prayer and leading into a celebration of love and community, not to mention music and dancing, the event featured more than 50 vendors.
One of the organizers tells News 3 that she loves seeing all of the different people who come out to join the party.
"Everyone just comes out because they know it's family friendly fun. We invite the dogs to come out, the family to come out, the youth to come out and just everyone. Everyone wholeheartedly, peace and love!" said Kimberly Wimbish, co-organizer of Portsmouth Pride Va.
Hampton Roads is celebrating Pride Month all of June, and Portsmouth Pride was just the beginning!
MJ's Tavern in Norfolk is hosting a Pride Month kickoff over the weekend, and Sunday the very first pride festival for the City of Newport News is happening at Tradition Brewing.
