Latvia is one of 15 countries represented at the 2023 International Sand Sculpting Championship.

This year, there are 22 entries created by single sculptors or teams of two. Competitors, who come from as far as South Korea and Ukraine, arrived Sunday and began working Monday.

The entries are protected from the windy ocean elements by a football field-sized tent between 7th and 8th Streets.

Once judging is finished Thursday, the tent will open to the public from Friday at 9 a.m. through October 8th.

Tickets to enter are $7, but kids 12 and under are free if they come with a paying adult.

When the world-renowned sculptors are finished with their entries, they will offer free sculpting clinics starting at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at 6th Street.
