NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State University was recently presented with a seven-figure check to go towards scholarships for students.
Frank Batten, President and CEO of the Landmark Foundation, presented Norfolk State University President Javaune Adams-Gaston with a $5 million check on Friday.
Batten said that the Landmark Foundation is giving the Norfolk State University Foundation $1 million a year for five years. This will provide need-based scholarships to in-state undergraduates from southeastern Virginia.
“We hope that for a number of students these scholarships will make the difference between dropping out or continuing with college,” said Batten.
