VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — With the sun setting around 5 p.m. these days, it's probably a little hard to get your steps in after work.

So how about taking a walk during your lunch hour?

I found a park that's really convenient for a lot of folks at work.

Now, you've probably heard of Central Park in New York, but did you know Virginia Beach has its own Central Park, just slightly smaller?

Like the one in the Big Apple, Central Park in the resort city has a lake and ducks, and, of course, Virginia Beach's unofficial city bird—the goose.

There are shade trees and some green space to enjoy, along with a walking path around the lake, all in the shadow of Town Center.

Call it the Manhattan of Virginia Beach! Central Park is just across the street from two of the tallest buildings in Virginia.

It's super convenient to thousands of people who work and live within a few blocks, including the four-legged variety.

It's a good spot for a dog walk, especially since there's a lot of concrete at Town Center.

There's also some nice landscaping, including some public art pieces to enjoy. But I don't want to oversell it, Central Park is quite a bit smaller than its New York namesake, and it's really just one city block.

Since it's right along Columbus Street, there is no escaping the sound of traffic, and there is some construction going on along the western side of the park.

And there isn't much wide open green space to do things like play frisbee or kick a ball around.

But, all in all, Central Park is a great place to stroll along with your pup and take in the sights and shadows of Town Center!
