CHESAPEAKE, Va. – A Portlock Primary School teacher is “so excited” to be a winner of News 3’s “Clear the List” campaign.
“I was like, yay, I got picked!” exclaimed Robin Rediger, an early childhood special education teacher. “I was so excited!”
News 3, Lead757 and the Hampton Roads Chamber partnered to help local teachers clear their school supply wish lists. More than 200 teachers applied to have their school supply lists cleared. The fundraising effort collected just under $5,000.
At least a dozen teachers across Hampton Roads will benefit from the money raised.
“Just to have help, and I don't have to spend my money, and to be able to give back to the kids, and they'll get what they need in the classroom. That is the honor!” said Rediger. “The first thing I did [when I learned about winning] was text my principal!”
“We want to thank the community for embracing all of those opportunities to help schools and help teachers,” the school’s principal, Dr. Heather Brusso, said.
While the “Clear the List” campaign is over, Amazon is joining the initiative to help clear the Amazon Wish Lists for educators around the country.
