HAMPTON, Va. — Forty-one Hampton City Schools students graduated from Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) with associate degrees on Friday, before receiving their high school diploma.

One of the 41 students is a part of the Governor's School for Science and Technology, and the 40 other students are a part of the Virginia Peninsula Community College Academy of the College Experience (ACE) at Phoebus High School.

The New Horizons Governor's School for Science and Technology (NHGS) is a magnet school, and students are selected from the Gloucester, Hampton, Isle of Wight, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg-James City County and York County school divisions.

The ACE Academy at Phoebus High School is on of Hampton City Schools' "wall-to-wall" academies.

Hampton City Schools says the academy provides students with early exposure to the academics rigors and intellectual challenges of college level work through a structured blend of high school and college curriculum.

The district says this program helps in substantially reducing college tuition costs and the time spent earning post-secondary degrees.

Congratulations to all of the graduates!
