VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - For five months now, many of us have been working from home and/or schooling from home. Apparently, not many people want to do so in a dirty house or apartment.
Two Maids & A Mop of Virginia Beach, a residential cleaning service, tells us it has far more customers now than before COVID-19. And this is despite losing 25 percent of their business immediately upon the onset of the pandemic.
In fact, Lee Sheridan - the owner and operator, admits he's having to turn down business because he is currently trying to hire workers and add more cleaning teams. In light of the pandemic, Two Maids & A Mop now offers a fogger service - the ability to deep clean your home. Additionally, they also provide anything from move-in/move-out services to weekly touch-up cleanings. They also serve short-term rentals in the area.
But not only does Two Maids & A Mop sanitize - they also sympathize.
Through a partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Two Maids & A Mop has provided more than 40 local cancer patients with free house cleanings. And now, as part of The Finley Project, Lee and his team offer services - free of charge - to families dealing with the tragic loss of an infant.
"Our mentality is to give 'til it hurts," Sheridan admitted during an interview with News 3. "Some of us are very lucky to not have to deal with these challenges, and we pray that we never have to. So when we look at it from the perspective of a cancer patient as well as a family who's lost an infant, it's just one of those things we can take off your plate. There's a certain impact to coming home to a clean home and knowing you don't have to worry about that. We love providing that service."
Two Maids & A Mop, which celebrated three years in business here locally in April, has recently expanded into Norfolk and Chesapeake, so they are able to serve almost any address on the south side of Hampton Roads.
