NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Tour Company, like most small businesses, is tailoring its product during the COVID-19 pandemic. They’re now offering private walking tours.

Customers can book a tour of the Neon District, the Waterfront, the Freemason neighborhood or a customized mix. Owner Joshua Weinstein says they give private tours with a minimum of four participants and a maximum of 10. The cost is $25 per person.

“You can have an enriching, fun, funny, entertaining walking experience that’s outdoors,” said Weinstein, who studied history at Old Dominion University.

Weinstein talked about how he has many favorite sites and enjoys sharing the stories behind them. Those include explanations of the cobblestone streets, wrought iron fences, and of course, the buildings themselves.

“You have architecture from the 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries all within the same block, so it’s an eclectic, interesting mix of architecture, and with that comes an eclectic, interesting mix of stories,” explained Weinstein.
