NORFOLK, Va. - If you are a fan of cheese - and well, who isn’t? - your taste buds can now be tantalized at the Virginia Cheese Company in Norfolk.
"Everything in here is pretty unique to us. [You're] not going to see it many places," said owner Ashtyn Greene.
Greene is bringing in the bleus, the bries, the goudas, the fetas and so much more from all across the U.S., Europe and even locally as well.
"We are super researched here. We are all studying to be cheese professionals," said Greene.
Greene decided to become a dedicated cheese monger after years traveling abroad, studying different cultures and, of course, indulging in the creamy, crumbly goodness.
"My husband and I are huge foodies. Every time we travel, we figure out where locals eat," she said.
It has been a longer road then expected in getting the cheese counter up and running with the coronavirus souring what was supposed to be a March opening.

"It was great to have more down time then I had planned on able to create relationships with staff and cheese makers," Greene explained.
The locals in the Freemason District downtown waited patiently to indulge.
"As soon as we opened, there was a line to get in it," said Greene. "We have only been open a week and we are so grateful."
Greene is also offering to-go platters and well as specialty sandwiches.
Virginia Cheese Company is located at 501 Botetourt St., Norfolk, Va. 23510.
