ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - An Elizabeth City woman was found dead in a burning home last week, and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Fire officials arrived on scene in the 600 block of Southern Avenue just after 5:30 a.m., where they saw smoke coming from the home.
Crews made entry into the home and found Javona Jones deceased on the floor.
The cause of Jones' death and the fire are currently under investigation.
